Music & The Gospel: “Madeleine,” Backstreet Boys

In this Sunday’s gospel Jesus begins his ministry in Galilee, an area where people lived in darkness after their kingdom was destroyed. With his teaching Jesus brings light to them and begins calling people to follow him into the light. Our baptisms call us to be lights to each
other and to our communities. By being beacons of God’s love, we inspire others to follow Jesus as well.

Key Lines: Rise up, rise up, rise up, Madeleine / The sun will come out again / Rise up, rise up, rise up, Madeleine / The summer will come and Kiss you with honesty / Love you unconditionally / Trust you and let you breathe / Give you back your dignity

Questions: How do you share God’s love with others? How are charity and justice tied to human dignity? What do you think it means for the kingdom of heaven to be at hand? How can we make Jesus’ kingdom be present today? How do you think Jesus is calling you to follow him? What do you think you will be asked to live behind?
