“Sandcastles,” Kate Voegele, Gravity Happens, Communikate, Inc.

Gospel Reflection: Sunday’s gospel shows us the wisdom of being prepared not only for the return of Jesus but for our day-to-day responsibilities as well.  “Sandcastles” is a song about the struggle to make wise choices for one’s life.

Key Lines: I got these wornout red boots on/And I got a brand new favorite song/And I can name some people who’d say that I got it all wrong/But I know plenty more who’ve been there all along/I’d rather make sandcastles/Instead of these wide-world decisions

Questions: Name someone you consider wise.  What qualities makes this person wise? What parts of your life do you need to pay more attention to? What do you think it means to “be prepared?” As you move towards adulthood, what kind of life do you see yourself having? What steps are you taking to prepare for that life? What choices are wise in the eyes of God, but might seem foolish to family or friends?
