Reflection for February 2nd, Feast of the Presentation: Two elders, Simeon and Anna, anticipate how important Jesus is when his parents bring him to the temple to dedicate him to God. He will be a light to the world and the glory of his own people. Likewise, all of us are created in the image of God and called to bring the good news of the gospel to the world. Sometimes with the distractions of daily life, it can be difficult to recognize that quality in ourselves and those around us. “Wake Up Everybody” reminds us to seek the image of God in each other.
Key Lines: I want us to get by but we more than consumers / We more than shooters / More than looters / Created in his image / So God live
through us / And even in this generation living through computers / Only love, love, love can reboot us
Questions: What do you think it means to be created in God’s image? How do you think we should act if we are made in God’s image? When is it difficult to see the image of God in each other? Who shows you God’s presence?
