Gospel Reflection for April 28, 5th Sunday of Easter: “Love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus makes this his new commandment. Loving others the way Jesus loves us sounds simple but gets challenging when we face people who are hard to love or who reject love because they don’t feel worthy of it. “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)” is a song about the struggle to help someone understand that they are loved.
Key Lines: Girl let me love you/And I will love you/Until you learn to love yourself/Girl let me love you/And all your trouble/Don’t be afraid, girl let me help?Girl let me love you/And I will love you/Until you learn to love yourself/Girl let me love you/A heart of numbness gets brought to life/I’ll take you there
Questions: Who do you feel loves you as Jesus does? When is it hard to receive love? How do you show others the spirit of Jesus’ love? Who do you find hard to love, and why? What steps can you take to make your Church or community a more loving place? How do the lyrics of this song remind you of the way God loves us?
