“Anything Could Happen,” Ellie Goulding, Halcyon, Polydor
Gospel Reflection for January 20, 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time: Jesus’ first public miracle takes place at a wedding. With his mother and disciples along, he joins in a gathering that shows us the importance of family and friends, of the communities that we belong to. Communities stretch us and help us become more fully who we can be. “Anything Could Happen” by Ellie Goulding reminds us that amazing things can happen when we work together as part of a community.
Key Lines: After the war we said we’d fight together/I guess we thought that’s just what humans do/Letting darkness grow/As if we need its palette and we need its color/But now I’ve seen it through/And now I know the truth/That anything could happen/Anything could happen
Questions: What do you consider a miracle? How does your family challenge you to grow and develop? How do you define community? Who is a part of your community? When have you experienced the human need to belong to communities? What is difficult about being part of a community?
