Lent calls us to spring growth. The cross suggests Lenten practices. Choose one action a day and cross it off. Or, choose one action that will help you change a habit and live it each day.
Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are traditional Lenten practices. Praying includes prayers we recite, daily Mass, and also cultivating a grateful attitude toward creation and people in our lives.
Fasting helps us change habits and routines that numb and dull us. We can fast from TV, computer games, and overwork as well as beer and chocolate.
Almsgiving means supporting and participating in works of charity and advocacy locally and globally, for example, Catholic Relief Services.
